3rd Tomocon Virtual Workshop

The 3rd TOMOCON Workshop took place this year as a fully virtual event from 22nd to 24th July 2020. The workshop was organized by our TOMOCON institutional partner University of Eastern Finland from Kuopio, Finland. The event was attended by more than 45 TOMOCON members. During the 1st day, all participants were welcomed in a short opening session. Afterwards our TOMOCON Advisors presented their latest research findings on tomography, control and machine learning. Furthermore, our industrial partners from Rocsole, Tata Steel, Linde, Sulzer and Shell gave some short presentations on optimising fluid in continuous casting, hydrodynamics and gamma-tomography, innovation and new energy aspects.
For the 2nd part of the day, the demonstration groups met virtually for individual demo group meetings where they discussed the current status and the next steps for the preparation and planning of the final demonstrations. During the 2nd and 3rd day, all ESRs presented their project work in individual 10-minute presentations and the Lead ESR from each demo group gave an outline of the plan for the final demo.
The workshop concluded with a short wrap-up given by the TOMOCON Coordinator Prof. Uwe Hampel and the Workshop Organizer Prof. Marko Vauhkonen. The project Advisors also gave some final remarks.
Overall, the Workshop was a great success, the demo groups are prepared and the last stage of the final demonstrations can be started.
